Bee Full of Spring Fever...

Are you as ready for spring and warm weather as I am? Spring is my favorite time of year. Wildflowers coloring the ditches, relaxing in the warm sun, the planting of vegetable gardens, trees budding out, green grass and trees everywhere and the perfect weather for entertaining outdoors! Though I am afraid we have a few more days of cold weather before we are officially in Spring, why not get ready for the beautiful days ahead? Make plans to plant a garden with your family, to pick wildflowers and put in a pretty vase for a neighbor, pot a plant to brighten your kitchen window, and have an outdoor party for friends and family. My hope is to offer tips to make your Spring the cheeriest many of you know I am a busy bee building a house, so we will see if I can fit it in my schedule to give you fun tips and take pics (my favorite part!) of pretty party platters, center pieces on a budget (remember the wildflowers in the ditch!), and other great ideas. My brain is full, my clock is too, but I will definitely make an effort to share my thoughts and favorite things in life.

AND THE WINNER IS.............

Marcia! Thanks for all of you who buzzed in! I hope you all had a fantastic Valentine's Day and made more memories.

Bee an Undercover Angel...

Bring joy to some one's life. An article and then an editorial I read the other day really made me think. It talked about people who give to give and people who give for recognition. Though I personally believe giving of both forms are usually honorable, when someone gives and receives no type of recognition...that is rare. When I gave my honey his Valentine's day gift, I did it to show him how much I love and care for him and this type of gift is good even though I was recognized by him for thinking of him. But what about people who anonymously give gifts? Why do they do it? Do they feel they have been so blessed and are just spreading the joy? Maybe they pray that they will end up giving to a stranger who really needs their spirits lifted? The editorial I read (some of you may have read it too) was someone thanking the car in front of them at the drive thru of a fast food restaurant. When the writer of the letter pulled up to the window to pay for the families' meal, the cashier told her that her meal had been paid for by the car that was in front of them...except the car had already driven away and the writer would never know who bestowed this act of kindness upon her. Wouldn't the world be a merrier place if we all were a little more kind? Do you have an elderly neighbor who seems lonely? Drop off flowers at his or her doorstep. Bake a few goodies and leave them in the mailbox. Bee an angel in disguise!

Bee Appreciative...

Does your mom, dad, good friend, or grandma cook you meals to help out during the week or to get together on the weekends? For Valentine's Day show them how much you appreciate how much they do for you. A pampering kitchen set filled with Upper Canada Gala Apple with Cinnamon products is a perfect way to say thank you.

Feel like going above and beyond? How about this time you treat the chef to a meal prepared by yours truly. Treat your loved ones like royalty and serve dinner with cute heart shaped servers. After the meal, give the servers to your guest as a keepsake from this special time. Not very impressive in the kitchen? You could bring a lovely flask vase with long stem roses as a centerpiece for the table. So many ways to make this Valentine's Day unforgettable.

Bee Talkative...

This Valentine's Day tip can be used by all. Simply take the time to relax and chat with someone you love. Brew a hot cup of coffee or tea, add a few sweets, and use the time to catch up. Been a while since you chatted with your girlfriend? Invite her over. Have you and your husband been busy running the kiddos to and fro? Get a sitter and get back in touch with one another. Maybe you have another couple that you have lost contact with lately? Ask them to join you. Not really in the mood to chat? Cuddle up with your cat or dog...he or she won't mind if you are lacking interesting topics and will no doubt enjoy the extra attention. Take the time to love this Valentine's Day.Fleur de lis cup holder and serving trays available at Bee Angels at The Shops of River Square Center.
Valentine's Day Blast from the Past:
Though I can't remember many of the actual events from this particular Valentine's Day, a picture sticks in my mind that reminds me of my childhood. A picture of me in a bright red shirt with white ribbons looped around into circular shapes with big red buttons in the middle and don't forget the big bow on my head! If you could see my feet in the pic, I am sure I had on bright red socks to match and maybe even red Keds (shucks...not my gray boots). Remember the school parties where you decorated a bag with heart doilies and glitter and everyone brought those tiny cards? It was so fun playing mailman as you dropped them in all the sacks. Some had a sucker stuck through it, some were the Fun Dip packs. If you were like me, when you filled yours out at home you had to pick through all the cards to make sure you did not give any of the boys ones that said something about "love" so they would not get the wrong idea? I remember I always used the ones in the package that said "Will you be my Valentine" since it did not seem so mushy and serious and I actually did not know what that meant but it sounded ok. Now when you think back, it was the sweetest thing when a little boy had a crush on you and brought you a bear or picked you flowers...but at the time, how embarrassing! The innocence of young love...
