Bee Yum Yum Good...

My honey's favorite cake is lemon. This weekend I tried a new (EASY!) recipe and took it to my Granny's to share. I could not help but feel happy when I saw several of the men (including my honey) go back for seconds! And when my dear Grandpa asked "Who made this cake?" and I was able to take the credit, what joy. Grandpa responded by telling me I was a good cook and that my dad told him that I liked to cook and that he also told him I was a lot like him...hard headed. Grandpas say the darnedest things. We visit my grandparents and have dinner, games, and desserts almost every Sunday. I feel so lucky to have all the terrific family memories. So here is the recipe for this yum yum good cake...by the way "yum yum good" is a saying from my Grandpa. One day he was describing something we had for dinner or dessert (I do not remember the item) but my honey and I just laughed and have used that saying ever since.
Yum Yum Good Lemon Cake
1 pkg. (2-layer size) lemon cake mix plus the ingredients listed on the box
2 pkg. (3.4 oz. each) lemon instant pudding
1 1/2 c. cold milk
1 tub (8 oz.) whipped topping, thawed (I used fat free)
Prepare and bake cake mix as directed on package for 2 (8- or 9-inch) round cake layers. Cool completely.
Beat pudding mixes with 1 1/2 c. milk for 2 minutes. Immediately spread over tops of cake layers.
Stack cake layers. Frost with whipped topping. Keep refrigerated.
Make it pretty with lemon slices, mint, and a Bee Angels cake stand and server!
If the cake looks familiar...I got the recipe from the newest Kraft foods magazine. I just ripped the recipe out, but I think this cake may have been on the front cover. I love their mags and website. Sorry Kraft but I am cheap and normally use the HEB brands. Shame on me!
Bee Angels is located in the Shops of River Square Center in Downtown Waco, Texas. Visit for a great selection of serving pieces and dishes.

Bee Married Happily Ever After...

To have and to hold, something new something old...
Wedding season is approaching. I love weddings. Planning my own was great fun...stressful? Not at all. I enjoyed every moment-from the conversations my honey and I had the night of our engagement (all in between...printing invitations, baking the cakes, picking out wedding party and parent gifts, creating favors, showers...) to our beautiful honeymoon...all the way to now. I encourage all brides-to-be to exhale, have a ball, and do not sweat the small stuff. Choose a style that is right for you. Does my abbreviated reminiscences above make you want to run? Maybe a destination wedding is the perfect choice. Most importantly, keep your focus on the most important part, your future marriage.
Weddings in my future...in a few weeks I will be attending my cousin's wedding and in 2010 my husband and I will be in his little sister's wedding. I look forward to both.
What weddings are coming up in your life? Your own? Or maybe you are part of the wedding party or a guest?
Bee Angels offers elegant cake stands, serving pieces, and wedding gifts.
I do not know about you but I like stories. Wouldn't it be cool if you gave your sister a beautiful cake stand, vase, or platter to be used at her wedding, she then passed it on to her daughter, who then passed it to your son, and to their kids, and on forever. This would all be passed on in a box with a little note from each couple, of course, to keep up with the history. Sounds tricky, but really, it is not too much trouble. Start a tradition in your family today. Your descendants will be so glad you did.
