Busy Bee

Sorry for the lull in activity on Bee Angels Buzz lately. The busy bee has been frantically buzzing around behind the scenes. New merchandise is on the way and some is already here (and priced under the big table in my shop...if you love the thrill of the find and being the first to have awesome things!) Today during my lunch break, I plan to clean and rearrange a little so next time you get a chance, stop by and see what's new. And check back here since I know I will have to feature and show off the new arrivals soon!

Bee Cool...

The Summer heat is definitely here. What do you guys do to cool off? A few weeks ago, I tried a new refreshing treat. Besides cutting all the seeds out of the watermelon (to save time use a seedless watermelon...I do not have this variety in my garden) this was a super easy drink. Cube about 8 cups of watermelon and put in a blender and puree. Mix in a pitcher with one lemonade and one pink lemonade frozen concentrate until melted. Pour half a glass over ice. Fill the remainder of the glass with club soda or sparkling water. Garnish with lemon or mint.
I had about half a pitcher of the watermelon/lemonade mixture left. I froze it for a later cool-down. I think next time, I will put it in a blender and add ice to make it a frozen drink instead of on the rocks. I tend to like my fruit drinks frozen and more on the icy side instead of tart.
On a different note...how many of you attended the sidewalk sale last week? Score any amazing bargains you want to brag about? I got wine bottle painting originally $50 for $10 and a cute coffee mug originally $8.99 for $1! I saw tons of cool home decor for awesome prices, but at this stage of our house building, I just have no idea what kinds of stuff like that I need. Maybe next year! Post a comment and tell me what you got!

Bee Hot & Spicy...

This weekend, my honey and I made garden fresh salsa. Yum! It just doesn't get this good in a store bought jar no matter how many brands we try! Home grown tomatoes...and onions (forgot to take that pic!) By using produce from the garden, we made our salsa for less than $1! Now if only we could figure out how to grow chips...
I boiled the tomatoes until the skin split. This makes it so easy. The skins slides right off. Throw the tomatoes in a food processor with onion, garlic, jalapeno, cilantro, salt, and whatever your taste buds desire. We just kept adding until we got it just right. Caution: a little cilantro goes a long way-add in small amounts. I also cleaned most of the seeds from the jalapenos since we like our salsa mild. Be careful with this part as well. Your hands will be on fire if you handle the jalapenos too much. Rubber gloves help here.

You know the drill by now...bee an angel and make extra to take to your friends! And if you are all about the fine details in life, gift it in a dish or pitcher from Bee Angels. Now that would be some special salsa :)
