There are so many things I want to post about for Christmas.

Boy does the time just keep flying by.

Instead of posting during my free time, I've been busy crafting, ordering, and displaying awesome items the Queen Bee has been crafting too. The Holiday shopping season has started off great-so thank you, thank you for keeping us busy and not giving me the time to post.

These little stars have been super popular so far. This picture was taken before the hangers were strung, but I think they make awesome gift tags, ornaments or embellishments for all kinds of things.

I truly enjoy making each one unique.

Yes, I am the nut in the yard taking pictures of stars, but I always have my body guards nearby.

That's it for now. I need to get busy making more stars. And surely, I'll get some of these posts I think about when I lay down in bed at the end of the day to make an appearance soon!

The Busy Bee's camera is in the shop.

I feel lost without it.

Pillows are coming and going...this one is still available. Frames were restocked. Naked Bee products are back in full supply. New vintage finds have made their appearance.

Next week, we will be redoing the shop for Christmas. It does feel early, but I'm excited to share all the Christmas items we've been working on with you.

In case you haven't heard already, Spice Village is having a holiday event on November 17. You don't want to miss it. We'll have gift bags for the first 50 customers. (The store will close at 5:00 and reopen at 6:00 and stay open until 8:00.) We're going to have door prizes, games, food and drinks, a fun photo wall that my honey is in charge of constructing...We still have a lot of work to do but it is going to be fun and I hope you'll be able to join us. Mark it on your calendar today! And cross your fingers that I get my camera back soon.

How was your weekend?

Ours was productive.

The Queen Bee crafted another clothespin board with fabulous burlap hanger.

The first one sold rather quickly.

This one is a tad larger and available now.

It was my turn to cook Sunday dinner. After dinner, the craft table called our names. While I worked on Christmas stuff, my busy bee helpers created these two items.

More gourds were harvested and cleaned to restock the old tin wash tub if it was running low last time you visited Bee Angels. I added a few around mi casa this weekend. In my opinion, gourds do a simply perfect job of adding a touch of Fall to any home.

Yes, I put these right by an ant pile. See them? Don't worry, I "shooshed" them away. No bites.

I just wanted to pop in and show you some of the new things by the Queen Bee.

I've been placing orders all week too.

Lady Primrose is restocked. Susan Soaps will be restocked the end of the week or early next week.

Christmas spreaders, wine stoppers, mason jar ornaments plus many Bee Handmade holiday items are in the works and waiting to make their appearance at Bee Angels.

Mason Jar soap dispensers will also be restocked next month if you missed out on those the first time or two around.

I have to thank you all for a wonderful year so far. It's been fun and I'm looking forward to sprucing things up for Christmas. It's still gourd season (come get yours-they're going fast) and I really enjoy this time of year too. It's hard not to get excited about Christmas when you have to plan ahead and bee ready though.

Just another parking lot photo shoot for ya. I like this one though. It makes me think of the cool, artistic photos many photographers take these days. You know, the ones where a cute couple walks down an alley or stands in a corn field. I love those kind of photos. I don't have any cute couple traveling around with me during my lunch break, but I normally have some random junk to use as props.

Now to get to the point of this post. Shutters are back in stock. This go round, we have black with burlap.

Another makeover.

This one wasn't bad when I got it.

But I like Miss Prissy Legs better this way.

Most you know that my space isn't very big and selling furniture in a spot my size might be ridiculous. But I have such a fun time refreshing these pieces and my home doesn't need more furniture...well, it does or will when we work upstairs...so for now if I find something lonely, sad, and small enough to fit in my space, I've decided I'll take it in, fix it up, work it into my shop (cover it with pillows and other knick knacks so no one notices it's for sale) and hopefully find a loving home for it.

What do you like to do during your lunch breaks?

So it's been a while since Bee Angels has been spruced.

It's still really hot outside but adding touches of Fall made it at least seem like there is hope for cooler days ahead...just not yet.

If the dust bunnies were scaring you away, now is the time to go before they appear again.
This cleaning should hold us until Christmas decorating.

Rearranging is always fun.

This thingy ma bob got a little makeover. I forgot to take a before picture but just imagine this a little less cute and there you have it. What is it exactly? I'm not sure. Your mom would probably put a fern in it and hang it on the wall...

Which would surely look lovely but I think it would make a nice organizer. Cutesy up your closet and organize at the same time.

Or add more interest and organize your hobby or craft room.

(You'll have to use your imagination a little with my pictures since it's kind of hard to show the full effect without nailing this thing to the wall...you're welcome honey.)

So there are a few ideas for ya...what would you use it for?

Stuffing it full of wine corks might be cool...

The Queen Bee has also been busy making more memo boards...they have been quite popular.

This one is my favorite. On the back of the frame there is writing telling to who it was given from a certain Sunday school class in 1917! Yes, it took a lot of will power to not keep this for myself. I have a weakness for that kind of thing...

The Queen Bee (my mom) was busy this weekend with both of her Busy Bees off playing.

Just last night, I was thinking how I could use some more pillows on my couch. I only have one. And every single one of these would look good on my couch. But they are all available at Bee Angels.

That's kind of like the electrician who has wires hanging from his ceiling or the mechanic with a car that doesn't run...

I dropped off a back seat full of new stuff during my lunch break.

While the Queen Bee crafted, I went thrifting in Arlington just long enough to have time to clean up and fix up some finds for you...some of them anyways.

Here's a peek at some of the Bee Handmade items, but you'll have to visit to check out my finds. I didn't have time to take pictures. My honey wanted to watch a movie...even though the Busy Bee could have kept on being busy, it was time to quit buzzing around :)

We are list makers at our house.

It seems if we don't have a list, we just don't accomplish much.

We have an ongoing grocery list. Use a can of green beans for dinner? Green beans goes on the list.

We also have a to-do list of items to finish up our big house project.

My honey has numerous lists to keep him on track for his new business.

Lists lying around all over the place can kind of make a neat freak like me grumpy.

Beat the grumps and make your lists (or magazine clippings, recipes, photos...) look stylish with a Bee Handmade memo board!

Tack up your lists to keep them from looking tacky :)

I also just dropped off a box full of old bottles, jars and serving pieces.

It's probably just me, but this is my favorite way to add interest to my home.

It might be an addiction now that I think about it.

Bee Back to Work...

Last week was a two day work week for me. Monday was Memorial Day-I worked Tuesday and Wednesday, and took off Thursday and Friday. Tomorrow is Monday, the start of a full, five-day work week, with meetings, meetings, meetings filling the calendar. I enjoyed my time off and used some of my leisure time to work on Bee Angels stuff! After a fun trip to Canton, I had lots of new materials and things to work with. One of my treasures was this cloche. Perfect timing since I just recently sold out of the others. Bird nests seem to be popular these days so I decided to try making my own. What do you think?!

The Queen Bee crafted another burlap pillow since these always fly off the ~~shelf~~ chair. She is officially off for the summer so you may see more of her work soon.

My worker bee (sister) came over one afternoon and when she left this is what had been accomplished.

This is where the Canton treasures really came in handy.

I plan to take the new stuff up during my lunch break tomorrow. Guess I better get ready for bed. It's going to be a long week ;)

Bee Comfortably Fun...

Just a quick post to let you know the Queen Bee has been busy sewing pillows. I really really like them all.

While snapping that picture, I finally remembered to snap a few of these blue jean bags also handcrafted by the Queen Bee. As you can see they are kind of hiding under the table right now.

There are a few different color schemes.

Some of you know I carry around something I call the "bag of fun." I always have reading material, price tags, catalogs, recipes, scissors, glue, string, the mail, coupons...this bag kind of holds me together and helps me run my life a tad more efficiently. Currently my bag is not very fun. It was the first thing I found after the one before had a blow out. The one I carry now looks like a briefcase and is nice, but I prefer something not so serious. And this briefcase is not a very good fit for my mudroom locker where my bag lives when I'm at home. I think I almost have enough excuses saved up to try out one of these fun blue jean bags...

Yes, I let my cousin play with fire way too close to the house :)

So my mom, the Queen Bee, has been a busy bee handcrafting a few items to sell at Bee Angels. She went by yesterday and mixed things up at the shop and added our Bee Handmade items. I went by and checked it out today and I can't get over how great it looks. You'll have to go see for yourself, but I did snap a few individual pictures of some of the new items. Bee Angels Has Moved!

Bee Angels has moved once again. This is my 4-5 location...depending on what counts. And I believe this is my favorite yet!
I have always envied those shops that had windows and natural light...and now I have that! These windows are located at the front of the building, so when you are walking up the main stairs to Spice Village, Bee Angels is located behind you. Does that make sense? In other words, once arriving at the top of the stairs, 40 Weeks Maternity shop is to your right. I am behind them and Spice's candle wagon.

Oh, and I also love the brick wall/window sill. A new sign is in the works. Looking forward to seeing how that ends up. Click here for a preview.

So if you're looking for something to do that is out of the cold, it would make me happy if you'd stop by and check out the new spot.

I plan to make it to the January market...so will hopefully have some new, neato stuff soon. I'll keep you posted.

It's official. I love Fall. I believe I've just realized that this year. Maybe I am becoming older and wiser and appreciate simpler things these days? Bee Angels is decked out for Christmas for the most part, but still has one Fall display. Don't get me wrong-Christmas is fun too...and I will love it when it gets closer, but there is something about warm browns, natural elements, and GOURDS that I can't get enough of. Maybe it has something to do with being able to walk in the fields and clip free weeds for lovely decor?! Just beware of Ragweed-ugly name, sneezy symptoms, but lovely none-the-less.
Speaking of lovely, pumpkins and mums always catch my eye.
My love of Fall probably has a little to do with the weather. Not too hot and not too cold.

Hi Bee Angels Buddies! My picture taking sessions have been a little scarce these days. Thanks for bearing with me during these Busy Bee House Building Days that should calm down in the next few months and as the year ends. Running to Home Depot during my lunch break has been taking the place of photo sessions. I snapped these two random shots a few weeks ago. The top features an antique clock replica and Victorian vase, which are two of my personal favorites. Getting closer and closer to the decorating part of our home, they may be shop lifted by yours truly so if they are favorites of yours, I'll race you to them!And this picture makes me anxious for entertaining, which is something we've kept in mind while building/designing our living space. Friends, I can't promise when the house warming party will actually take place, but I can promise that I won't serve plastic bread. Life is good. Sorry to have been slacking on the blog lately! Today I bring you a long overdue post. I am always thrilled to see a great "before" and "after" so thought I would share one of my favorites that now lives at Bee Angels. Above you can see my childhood dresser complete with pennies ticky tacked to the mirror for each year since I was born and a 0% Angel sticker. Thank goodness my style of decor has changed since my early years! Now see below for several "after" shots.
When I learned that Bee Angels would be moving, I knew I wanted to acquire new display pieces. For those who know me, I like to recycle old things and give them a new life (and am cheap!) My mom, always my partner in crime in this department, mentioned a few pieces she had around her house that she would not mind getting rid of/was tired of looking at. So one night we toured many a lovely pieces of furniture and visualized and looked for the potential in each piece (and made quite the to-do list for my dad/husband.)To start the transformation, my dad took out all the drawers and then cut out the drawer frames (not sure what you call that part...the tick-tac-toe kind of design you would have after taking out the drawers...) and then added a board at the bottom for the floor as you can see in the above and below pictures. Then he added a light (also recycled and free from my sister's home remodeling).

He also added two wooden shelves across the mirror, which my honey later stained.

The majority of the furniture I used for this project was made of fake wood. You know the kind that has a plastic like wood, grain coating? I really was leery and wondered if it could be painted and then hold up to customers picking up and moving merchandise. So after much trial and error, I kicked myself for not doing the always easy Internet search. Not sure what I was thinking...obviously, I wasn't. After reading about several options, each piece was lightly sanded to get rid of the shine, then cleaned, then sprayed with Kilz white primer from my honey's paint sprayer. (He looked like Casper the friendly ghost after all of my projects that night.) Then after the paint dried for a few days, I did my part and distressed each piece.

I am really happy with how it turned out and think my dad and honey were surprised. (If you could have seen all the crazy looks I got through this process!) And my mom, always my teammate by my side receiving those same crazy looks, now has new shoe racks (one piece used to hold her shoes), less clutter, and was a warrior making sure dad got the to-do list done in a timely manner. A true group effort~with a happy busy bee product.

I know...the title is goofy-the fumes from the paint and sawdust must be getting to me, or I'm just goofy?!? Thought I would give the Bee Angels Buddies a peek at the progress. The elevator wall is painted and the sign is hung. I am so happy with how it looks. Thanks to everyone who helped, especially my dad. I am so blessed to have him.
And the furniture is ready to go too! Thanks dad and honey for painting and painting and painting. Thanks to my honey for his "moral support" while I sanded and distressed away. And thanks mom for running errands to get more paint, for the furniture donations, and just for always being my biggest supporter in whatever I am getting into at the moment.

Moving day is still set for Saturday...weather permitting. The trailer will be loaded and waiting.

To give you an update: The elevator wall is partially painted...the new display pieces are in the shop painted but still needing a little work...but are getting there!

To let you know what to expect: We hope to move on Saturday...keep your fingers crossed that we have cooperative weather to transport the furniture.

The new location promises new merchandise (already priced and patiently waiting for it's debut), new displays, and new ideas.

Well, the Queen and I have been busy bees trying to get things ready for the move to the other side of the elevator. Let's just say the weather has not been very cooperative but our hard heads have still been doing what we can. Last night, when I got home from volunteering, the Queen had a priming station set up on the King's trailer...some of the pieces are faux wood (ok, ok, it's fake! But it was free...) so it's been a little challenging. I did some research online and am hoping the chosen method works to make the fake look closer to fab. Now we really just need a nice weather day so we can work on this outside!
I started this smaller project inside earlier this week. I will rough it up and apply a furniture wax paste and this one will bee ready to go!
